Visit the Galleries

The fifteen online galleries depict the history of Americans and their guns, tracing six centuries of firearms evolution - from the simplest of hand cannons and early days when each piece was the product of a skilled artisan, to mass firearms in the Industrial Revolution and today's cutting-edge innovations. Exhibits also demonstrate the many uses of guns for early settlement, military, police, hunting, competition and personal defense.

The guns featured in these galleries can primarily be found at the National Firearms Museum at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, VA. Also included are the guns from the National Sporting Arms Museum at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO and the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM.
